Block 2 | Mindfulness marks a shift in the twelvetwenty journey from doing to being. We turn our focus to presence, awareness, and how mindfulness can support long-term happiness in everyday life.

Mindfulness is the awareness that arises from paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, and without judgment, to the unfolding of experience as it is.

Introduction

It's time to start Block 2 | Mindfulness of twelvetwenty, our 12-block experiment aimed at cultivating practices that support long-term happiness over the next 20 years.

We had a quite extraordinary month going through Block 1 | Productivity, learning tons of lessons and gaining some serious productive energy, and we're exciting to share all our learnings with you in a blog post in the coming days, stay tuned. Now, we'll move into a different terrain, from doing to being, by starting Block 2 | Mindfulness.

As for each block, we outline our personal plan for the month below and then summarize the outcomes of this plan after the end of the month. You're invited to follow along in your own rhythm or come up with your own plan for mindfulness as part of your happiness strategy.

 If you do want to follow along, we recommend you take a look into our custom-built Mindfulness Mirror, a 10-minute data-driven reflection tool to help you see how present you currently move through your day-to-day life. We'll send you your own personalized report within a few days after taking it.

 It's entirely up to you whether you follow our exact plan, create your own plan, or simply read along. We're not here to tell you what to do; we're here to explore and experiment alongside you.

Our Quest
What about you?

To design our own custom-made 5-night Strategic Happiness Retreat, which we will complete together in a remote mountain hut in early January 🏔️

 

Our intention here is to create a simple, authentic prototype retreat complete with intentional silence, mindfulness and strategic happiness practices. If successful, we might expand the concept and invite you to join us in such retreat in the future 😊

3 | Books

Wherever You Go, There You Are

by Jon Kabat-Zinn presents a foundational text in modern mindfulness, offering simple reflections and exercises to integrate awareness into everyday life. 

The Miracle of Mindfulness

by Thich Nhat Hanh is a practical introduction to cultivating present-moment awareness through simple daily mindfulness exercises. 

Both books support our Quest by anchoring the philosophy and practices of mindfulness into our planned retreat.


4 | Routine


Our Daily Routine
What about you?
  • Meditate for at least 10-30 minutes

  • Practice one mindful moment each day (e.g. "When I'm doing the dishes, I'm doing the dishes")

  • Stretch for 10 minutes while paying attention to the arising body sensations

  • Take one tech-light moment (a meal, walk, etc. without digital input)
